Please note - Due to the nature of our dark sessions participants are estimated to move considerably slower around the high ropes course. This means that when you book a dark session you may only complete ONE lap of the course in your time slot.
Participants who display good control and complete the course in a fast time may be offered a second lap AT THE INSTRUCTOR'S DISCRETION.

We recommend only those who have had experience on a high ropes course attend our dark sessions.

The tale...

Hundreds of years ago the Charmouth coastline was savaged by marauding Danes. It is said that they sailed with an army thousands strong to lay claim to this land. The small coastal village of Charmouth was repeatedly found to be in the midst of great wars, with many people chased away from their homes. Those that survived would use the surrounding woodland to escape from the invaders, hiding while they watched the brutal destruction of their homes and farmland.

After one particularly vicious raid by the Danes a mournful widow vowed revenge on the strangers that walked through her land. She began to practice dark magic, using flesh and blood sacrifice of unsuspecting travellers to bewitch the surrounding hills. When next the Danes attacked, she was ready for them. She used her willing daughter, her only child, as a human sacrifice to call on those she had killed, using the dead that she had buried in the hills to drive the invaders back into the ocean. Yet some escaped, they fled in to the very woodland that the villagers had once used to hide. Stumbling around in the blinding darkness, they were easy pickings for the undead horde that had staggered in to the woodland after them. Not one Dane survived. The Danes had been defeated by dark magic but it had cost the mournful widow her very soul. She was forever cursed to live on as one of the undead that she had created, tasked by her daughter's spirit to guard the woodland and hills from any strangers that may attack once more.

It is said that during a new moon in the woodland on the hill, people still see a woman dressed in black walking through the trees, and they hear the faint screams of those strangers that she finds trespassing there. . . .
